For all World War II Motorcycle enthusiasts there is good news. An original German NSU Kettenkrad (Sdkfz 2) from 1943 is currently being offered online for a price of $135,000. Not much details are listed but the original description states “This 1943 Kettenkrad has a 4 cylinder Opel motor that runs great and cool, the transmission has been rebuilt, the Transaxle has been gone through with all new seals, some of the smaller parts are repros but overall a very nice Kettenkrad. Underneath the primer on the tub you still see the original Panzer gray and two bullet holes on the right side.”

The Kettenkrad (literally meaning tracked motorcycle) or Kleines Kettenkraftrad HK 101 was produced by NSU Motorenwerken from 1939 until last production in 1948. Its speed was up to 70 km/h (44 mph) and was equally at home in the burning deserts of North Africa or the bitter cold of the Russian Front and was liked for its reliability.

For comparison in 2012 another Kettenkrad has been auctioned by Bonhams for the price of $120,000 – $150,000.

The Kettenkrad is available on ArmyJeeps including more photographs.
