Airbus has secured a significant order for 90 aircraft from Avolon, a leading global aircraft leasing company. The deal, announced on July 24, 2025, includes a mix of A321neo and A330neo models and is estimated to be worth approximately €12.4 billion at list prices.

The new order strengthens the already robust relationship between Airbus and Avolon and further solidifies Airbus’s presence in the global commercial aviation market. The deal was confirmed at Airbus’s global headquarters in Toulouse, highlighting the city’s ongoing strategic role in aircraft production.

This announcement follows a series of major successes for Airbus’s commercial division. With demand for fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft on the rise, Toulouse’s production lines, including the recently established A321neo assembly line, are positioned at the heart of Airbus’s future growth. As reported by Actu.fr, the latest agreement brings Avolon’s cumulative orders with Airbus to 79 A330neo and 264 A321neo aircraft, reflecting the leasing giant’s long-term confidence in these models.

Avolon Commits to Expanding Airbus Fleet

The Dublin-based lessor has placed an order for 75 A321neo and 15 A330neo aircraft. This purchase adds to its existing portfolio, reinforcing Avolon’s status as one of Airbus’s largest clients. The value of this new acquisition is estimated at roughly €12.4 billion based on catalogue prices, highlighting the scale of the deal.

Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon, stated that the company’s financial strength and operational scale position it to meet the future needs of airline customers. “This order reflects our strong conviction in the long-term demand for new aircraft,” he explained, adding that Avolon is well-equipped to support both fleet expansion and replacement over the next decade.

Airbus Sees Lessors as a Key Market Indicator

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales at Airbus, described leasing companies as “excellent barometers of the aviation market.” Airbus welcomed Avolon’s renewed commitment to the A320 and A330neo families, especially so soon after a previous order was placed two years earlier.

In his remarks reported by Actu.fr, De Saint-Exupéry underlined the wide appeal of the two aircraft models. Their technological sophistication and operational flexibility make them suitable for a variety of routes, from short domestic legs to intercontinental journeys, which strengthens their demand among airline operators worldwide.

Aircraft Models Tailored for Performance and Efficiency

The aircraft involved in this order represent Airbus’s newest generation of fuel-efficient designs. The A330-900, fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, is capable of flying 13,300 kilometers nonstop and offers a 25% reduction in fuel usage, emissions, and operational costs compared to previous versions. These characteristics enhance its value for long-haul services.

Meanwhile, the A321neo remains the largest and most popular aircraft in the A320neo family. It delivers unmatched performance among single-aisle jets and offers extended range. As detailed in Actu.fr, both models are currently able to operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with Airbus aiming for full SAF compatibility by 2030.
