After giving a brief history of maritime aviation,Guttman covers the aces. Aces from Germany, Austria-Hungary, Britain and Commonwealth, theUnited States (one U.S. Navy ace, Lt. David S. Ingalls), Italy, Russia, and Greece.Guttman gives short biographical sketches for some men while recounting seemingly everyclaim that each man made. The text is bolstered by accounts from aviators. For some men,Guttman gives information on their post-war careers.As usual for Osprey books, the photographs and artwork (twenty-eight color profiles) arewonderful. This book is right in line with Guttman’s other works for Osprey and highly
recommended to anyone interested in aviation during World War I.
