Bomber Command Memorial vandalized again for the sixth time!

The Bomber Command Memorial in London’s Green Park has been vandalized with white paint overnight. It’s the sixth time the memorial has been a target of vandals after its revealing in 2012. The whole memorial including the 8 bomber crew statue has been stained.

The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud to serve as guardians of the Memorial, built to commemorate the 55,573 members of Bomber Command who died in its service during the Second World War.“, sid Chief Executive of the RAF Benevolent Fund David Murray.

Work to repair the damage has begun immediately and Scotland Yard is investigating the vandalization after been given CCTV footage. Estimation of the repair costs is yet to be determined but is likely to run into thousands of pounds.

According to the DailyMail the Statue of Winston Churchill and FDR on New Bond Street have also been hit on nearby New Bond Street.

  1. Vandalized by children who are unworthy of the sacrifices made for them. I wonder how they would be treated in a Nazi Britain?

  2. clearly NO RESPECT or SACRIFICES needed and freely given to provide even these low lifes the freedom they now enjoy.

  3. Clearly these vandals have no appreciation for history, or – presumably – the sacrifices made by their countrymen in order to provide them the freedom they have to do things like this!
    It doesn’t matter what your hindsight views are on ‘Bomber’ Harris’ tactics of targeting enemy cities, the fact remains that this is memorial is to the tens of thousands of brave men who gave their lives in order to fight fascism and defend the free world. Damaging it does little more than demonstrate the vandals own lack of class, brains and moral fibre…
