Storming Juno (2010)

TITLE: Storming Juno

Just after midnight on June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel to launch the largest seaborne invasion in history. Their mission: to break through the coastal defenses of Hitler’s “Fortress Europe” and establish a western front. Docudrama Storming Juno follows the stories of three young Canadian soldiers, who against incredible odds, secured a beachhead on D-Day and helped to change the course of the war. Each soldier tells his own story as a real-time experience of the day as he crosses the English Channel, lands on enemy territory and goes into battle.

Paratrooper Corporal Dan Hartigan of “C” Company, First Canadian Parachute Battalion, who parachutes in behind enemy lines just after midnight and is among the very first Allied soldiers to see combat on D-Day.

Lieutenant Bill Grayson of the Regina Rifles, who leads one of the first infantry platoons to land on the beach, directly into the line of fire; and tank Sergeant Leo Gariepy who launches a top secret “DD” Sherman into the heavy seas two miles off shore and is the first in his squadron to make the beach.
